In 1977, while studying in a massage class, someone handed Samuel Flagler a catalogue to the National College of Naturopathic Medicine, and he thought, “How cool; a nature doc, that treats with herbs, nutrition, acupuncture and homeopathy.” He was unfamiliar with the field then. Two months later he was accepted to the school and the rest is Tucson history.

Flagler states, “I quickly fell in love with homeopathy. I saw how it was capable of healing patients on all levels, physically, emotionally and mentally. It worked great for kids, because getting them to take herbs was impossible. Seeing cured cases of long-term depression, anxiety disorders, allergies, fatigue, insomnia and you name it really convinced me. I graduated in 1981, and my wife Lila did in 1983. It was then that we moved to Tucson, where we’ve been practicing ever since.”

He relates that although their formal training in naturopathic medicine lasted four years, the couple’s quest for knowledge and greater expertise in
homeopathy has been a lifelong passion. Each year, they travel domestically and abroad to study with the world’s greatest teachers, such as Dr. Rajan Sankaran, in India. Flagler says, “Homeopathy is more than a profession. It is a lifelong study.”
