A Words from Babs and Hollycakes About Body & Sol Event
Hollycakes and Babs
This month, we’ve decided to turn this page over to Hollycakes and Babs, the creations of The Tucson Puppet Lady, Rose Mayer. They were created in the likenesses of Natural Awakenings Tucson Publisher Holly Baker and Barbara Peters, architects of the Body & Sol Women’s Expo, to be held March 8 and 9 at the Tucson Convention Center. Okay girls, take it away…
Hollycakes: Wow, Babs, I can’t believe we’re so close to that special day that we’ve been planning for so long. This Women’s Expo is gonna be big, big, big! Just like in the big city— just like… San Diego!
Babs: You’re kinda chatty today, aren’t you?
Hollycakes: Heck yeah… I mean, “Yes!” The theme of the Expo is “Begin with Yes,” from the title of Paul Boynton’s book. He’s the keynote speaker, you know.
Babs: Hollycakes, how am I going to be able to hear him if he’s talking into a keyhole?
Hollycakes: No, not keyhole; keynote. That means his talk will set an upbeat tone for everything that follows.
Babs: You mean like an appetizer?
Hollycakes: Hmm, well… maybe. Anyway, there are lots of other great speakers, like Ann Marie Chiasson, Susie Cox and Becky Aikman. And there are so many exhibitors and activities I can’t even count them all.
Babs: Just how high can you count, Hollycakes?
Hollycakes: Never mind. The point is that this is the kind of event we really need in Tucson.
Babs: Is it only going to be held once every four years, like the Olympics?
Hollycakes: No, silly, we’ll have another and another and another Expo, every year from now on. Won’t that be wonderful?
Babs: Yes, it will, because this community event aims to enrich the spirits and lives of Tucson’s women and provide a place where learning, creativity and purpose strengthen community businesses.
Hollycakes: Babs, that’s so beautiful. I’ve never heard you talk like that before.
Babs: I guess I’m feeling inspired just thinking about the Expo.
Hollycakes: Okay, what are you going to wear?
Babs: It’s all about the shoes, Hollycakes—I’m going to be on my feet all day.
Hollycakes: Oh, I almost forgot. Do you know who else is going to be there? Rose Mayer, The Tucson Puppet Lady. They say that she can make little puppets that look just like people, and they can talk and everything.
Babs: C’mon Hollycakes, the Expo sounds really terrific and all, but talking puppets? That’s just crazy! We can’t wait to see you there!
