Dr. P. David Wilkinson, a well-known figure in Tucson who recently retired after 33 years as pastor of St. Francis in the Foothills UMC, will speak at the IONS Tucson First Friday lecture series from 6:30 to 8 p.m., October 3, at Unity of Tucson.

His talk, Bridging Spirituality and Science with Jesus, Pan and Teilhard de Chardin, will explore early expressions of the oneness of all the created universe, as reflected in the teachings of Jesus, the worship of nature as personified in the deity Pan, and the writings of the French Jesuit, Pierre Teilhard de Chardin.

de Chardin wrote that every single thing, down to the smallest particles of matter and including the individual cells of our bodies, has consciousness, and for that he was condemned as a heretic by the Catholic Church.
