How Genetically Modified Foods Impact Our Health

Jun 30, 2022 07:00AM ● By Erica Mills
It isn’t surprising that we get sick when one billion pounds of pesticides are sprayed on our foods annually. We cannot keep poisoning the Earth and think we are not poisoning ourselves. Genetically modified foods contain pesticides/herbicides and are sprayed with more pesticides, thereby getting these chemicals into our bodies.

Whether you eat it daily, or drink unclean water or walk around in polluted air—no one is untouched by chemicals and pesticides. Pesticides run off into our water supply, and the wind also carries the spray over the country. The people who do the spraying are dressed head-to-toe in hazmat suits; shouldn’t that alone make us wonder?

If, every day, we shave, bathe, put on lotions, creams, deodorant, take medications and eat processed foods that are genetically modified, the amount of toxins piles up inside a person. We could be living in a moldy house or working at a place where chemicals are used—allowing more toxins to seep in. We could be spraying Roundup around our homes and yards trying to kill off bugs. This also poisons you, your pets, the lizards and bees.

The main ingredient in Roundup is Glyphosate, a known carcinogenic. Studies have found changes in animals’ and humans’ kidney function, as well as reproductive issues and gastrointestinal issues. The longer a person eats any GMO foods, the more likely they will come down with cancer, autism, diabetes, Alzheimer’s and more chronic conditions. If you have the option to eat clean and feel great, wouldn’t that be worthwhile?

Each person can be proactive for themselves and their loved ones and start eating smartly, avoiding pesticides and growing organic, non-GMO foods. Start with one plant in a pot of tomatoes or lettuce or a cucumber. Even herbs are easy enough to grow inside or outside. Making wise choices can help protect ourselves and our families.
