Gourmet Girls Begin With ‘Yes’
The upcoming Body & Sol Women’s Expo is the perfect showcase for the message that Susan Fulton and Mary Steiger, co-owners of Gourmet Girls Gluten Free Bakery/Bistro, promote in their popular local eatery. Like Paul Boynton, the Expo’s keynote speaker and author of “Begin with Yes”, the girls have adopted the mantra “Yes, we can,” as their guiding philosophy in life, starting on a personal level and continuing into their business.
When the pair started their experimentation with preparing gluten-free foods more than five years ago, they knew there was a need for tasty alternatives for the ever-growing number of people unable to tolerate the gluten protein. What they didn’t realize at the outset was that there is a tremendously complex relationship between the health-related issues and the emotional and spiritual well-being of their patrons.
In addition to their passion for creating and serving delicious food, Fulton and Steiger soon discovered a fascination with the many deeper layers of wellness associated with a gluten-free diet. By asking questions and delving deeper, one of Boynton’s principles, they began to see that the help they could offer went far beyond the preparation of food, and could encompass an entire arena of lifestyle changes.
At the bakery/bistro, the atmosphere is supportive and nurturing, helping create a “Begin with Yes” lifestyle; changing attitudes, responding differently, appreciating what’s before us and taking small positive actions now. Visit the Gourmet Girls booth at the Body & Sol Women’s Expo and stop by the bakery/bistro to experience their gluten-free culinary delights.
