Claire Johnson, chef and owner of Claire’s Cafe & Art Gallery, in Catalina, Arizona, welcomes everyone to her café with open arms and a big heart. For 28 years, she has been serving home-cooked breakfasts and lunches, prepared with locally grown produce, with kindness and joy, and never turns anyone away.

The organic meals can be made to fit a variety of dietary needs, such as gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegetarian. During special occasions, diners enjoy listening to jazz or opera while dining on the covered patio. Claire’s also carries an extensive, unique line of handmade jewelry, leather items and original Native American art.

Each year, Claire and her husband, Steve, open up the restaurant the day before Thanksgiving and serve a free, delicious dinner to hundreds of guests to thank the community for their continued support over the years. Claire humbly states, “What I wanted to establish is exactly what I got.”
