Aquatic Myofascial Release Therapy Now Available in Tucson
Monika Szumilak
Santa Rita Springs, an oasis of healing and relaxation in Tucson, now offers aquatic myofascial release (MFR) therapy—a pain relief therapy offered in an indoor, warm, saltwater pool. Monika Szumilak, MFR therapist, will hold private sessions and group demonstrations in the indoor therapy pool.
The fascia, or connective tissue, that exists everywhere in our bodies, is naturally fluid, strong, yet pliable and flexible. With injuries, scar tissue and emotional trauma, it can become solidified and stiff. The “frozen” fascia can put incredible pressure on other sensitive structures in the body. A myofascial release therapist gently releases this pressure and helps the body return to its naturally fluid, open and flexible state.
“Free from pain, anyone can again enjoy their work and play without the pain and fear of further injury,” says Szumilak. “Warm water can enhance the
effectiveness of MRT, so Santa Rita Springs’ deeply relaxing and protective atmosphere is a perfect place to experience it.”
