The Unity Spiritual Center of Peace and Center for Spiritual Living Tucson will host a concert with Motown artist Eddie Watkins, Jr., from 6 to 8 p.m., October 18, at Unity Spiritual Center of Peace. Watkins will also be holding a limited-seating songwriters workshop on October 17 and performing during Sunday Celebration Services, on October 18 at Center for Spiritual Living Tucson at 10:30 a.m.
“When Eddie performs, you feel the music, amazing voice and powerful delivery, which is spellbinding whether he is delivering a funky Motown beat or a quiet meditative song,” says David Prouty, music director at Center for Spiritual Living Tucson. “Whether he is playing his music or other people’s music, it’s a heart-lifting, soul-stirring, can’t-stay-in-your-seat experience.”
Watkins has been a highly acclaimed bass player and musician all his life and has recorded and played with Marvin Gaye, Quincy Jones, James Brown, Santana, Cher, Diana Ross, Herbie Hancock, Pattie Labelle, The Pointer Sisters, Peter Frampton, The Temptations and many others. His concerts are an expression of love and gratitude, giving new meaning to “soul music”.
