Tucson Now Has a ‘Mini Med Spa’
Alternatives in Health Care Detox Therapy Spa has been around for 12 years, making it one of the oldest “wellness centers” in Tucson. The idea of having one place to go for many natural health and beauty needs came about when Debbie Shaw and her husband, Dr. Noel Shaw, decided to add more diversity to their chiropractic clinic.
With the thought of an alternative health care “mall” in mind, acupuncture, massage, weight loss and nutritional cleansing were the first new services to be added, followed by ionic foot baths and reflexology. The therapy spa now also offers Tucson’s only Soqi bed, chi machine and a far infrared sauna.
After a couple of years, Debbie started using her certification in medicinal aromatherapy to create her own skin care line to combat using toxic chemicals on the skin. When people saw the difference in her skin and continued to ask what she was doing to look so “glowy and healthy”, the product line grew. “All of a sudden folks were asking if we did facials with these awesome products,” describes Debbie. “Ta dah, the clinic became a skin care center also. We now had a spa twist.”
The newest addition to the spa is facial injectables—dermal fillers and neuro-muscular blockers. “Soon, we will yet again transform part of the inside of the building by adding on a new facial service room and another massage room. We are excited to be able to provide these new services and would love to have you come meet our new practitioner,” enthuses Debbie.
