The Loft Cinema will present a screening of Consumed, a gripping dramatic thriller set in the complex world of genetically modified organisms (GMOs), on April 12. The event will feature a Non-GMO Information and Food Fair, with local groups and vendors on the Loft patio, starting at 6 p.m.

A panel discussion with local experts will immediately follow the film. Panelists include Melissa Diane Smith, author of Going Against GMOs, and small farmer Anne Loftfield, of High Energy Agriculture.

In Consumed, Sophie (Zoe Lister-Jones, The Other Guys) is a working-class single mother who goes on a journey to uncover the cause of her son’s mysterious illness. Interwoven are the stories of an organic farmer in danger of losing his farm, the CEO of a biotechnology corporation trying to save the world and two scientists on the verge of a major discovery. Featuring an all-star supporting cast, including Danny Glover (Lethal Weapon), Anthony Edwards (ER), Victor Garber (Sicario) and Griffin Dunne (After Hours).
