Claire Johnson, owner of Claire’s Cafe and Art Gallery, is one of three finalists for the 2016 Torch Awards Good Neighbor Award, recently announced by The Better Business Bureau (BBB) of Southern Arizona. The Good Neighbor Award recognizes a company that has shown a commitment to making southern Arizona a better place through community service.

Claire’s Cafe has been serving the community for 28 years, serving delicious and healthy home-style food prepared and served with a personal touch. Every year on the day before Thanksgiving, Johnson opens up the restaurant and serves free meals to more than 500 people in need. Many local business owners support her with this project.

The nominated business and employees play a significant role in support of local charities or community service projects. Finalists for the awards represent both nonprofit and for-profit organizations in southern Arizona and they’re selected by a panel of judges independent of BBB. Winners will be named at an awards ceremony from 6:30 to 8 p.m., May 5, at Casino del Sol Resort.
