December 2017 Letter From Publisher
Well, here we are at the end of another year in Tucson—and Natural Awakenings’ 10th year, at that! Our anniversary celebration last month was a beautiful day full of old friends and new ones, reminding me once again how meaningful our work is in this region. The event, much like each issue of this magazine, was a celebration of the strength and dedication of the holistic community.
It is especially great to experience this unity in the face of current challenges. These days, it seems we are surrounded by bad news and harrowing tragedies. Conflict is around every corner in our country, with differing opinions causing arguments and unease. In “Peace on Earth”, on page 32, take a look at how we can take the inevitable conflict in our lives and resolve it in a healthy and meaningful way.
The holiday season, as well as the end of a year, is often a stressful time for many. For some, the prospect of more time with family and friends is less than exciting, causing anxiety and unhappiness. The idea of giving the perfect gift or bringing the most delicious dish to a meal is cause for worry and strife. But the holidays can and should be a time to enjoy yourself in whatever way you so choose. Try the 12 tips on page 38 to get the most out of this time of year, and start 2018 on a healthier foot.
While we are giving reflection to the past year and creating our healthy intentions for the New Year, remember that Natural Awakenings will be here for you each month of your unique 2018 journey. Look for our January 2018 annual guide issue as a yearlong resource for all things healthy living in our beloved town of Tucson.
Let’s go into 2018 with an even greater resolve and determination.
