Advanced Therapeutic Yoga Teacher Training at PCC
Pima County Community College District with Yoga Therapy College will add to its Yoga Teacher Training courses with the addition of the advanced program in therapeutic yoga teacher training, launching in January. This new Advanced Program of Therapeutic Yoga Teacher Training builds upon a student’s prior certification in a registered 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training Program, adding an additional 300 hours.
The goal of this new Advanced Training is to prepare the student for the newly standardized International post-advanced training as a Professional Yoga Therapist. The instructors selected to teach continue to be dedicated to bringing the ancient insights of yoga into mainstream wellness programs based on the yoga philosophy viewing health as a unity of body, mind and spirit. The college’s approach to education allows students to integrate in-depth information through a creative process resulting in a uniquely personal experience.
Continuing education is important to all professions and is another option for yoga instructors and mental health professionals seeking to grow their own knowledge. Trauma Informed Yoga Therapy is a 25-hour comprehensive training that is preapproved by the American Psychological Association, marriage and family therapists, social workers, professional counselors and Yoga Alliance for Continuing Education Units (CEU).
Those interested in guiding both individuals and groups in managing the health challenges they face, and facilitating their journey back to a state of health and well-being, might consider exploring the exciting complementary field of yoga therapy as a new career choice.
