December 2018 Letter From Publisher
It’s the end of the year, a time of assessment and reflection, a time to come home to ourselves after a turbulent year and a time of uncertainty for many. We are honored to be a beacon of light for so many of our readers—here to lend a hand and provide a place of encouragement toward a healthy lifestyle for all who seek it.
This is our mission, and has been from the beginning. Our contributors share spiritual tools, insights, seasonal events, ceremonies and places of retreat to connect with the soul and participate meaningfully in the season.
On page 18, learn about how cultures and religions across the world celebrate the return of the light in winter. From Christmas to Diwali to Toji, this time of year is important for so many reasons in so many places. In Tucson, you might check out the winter solstice candle-lighting ceremony at Center for Spiritual Living Tucson, December 21, or special Sunday Advent Services all month long at Casas Adobes Congregational (page 9).
We’re always trying to shop local for the holidays, so check out Unity’s Metaphysical Bookstore. They have more than just books on all manner of subjects, offering CDs, DVDs, printed materials, greeting cards and more. There’s something for everyone on your list—and don’t be ashamed to get yourself something special, too.
In the new and popular Plant Medicine section, keep your eye out for little snippets titled, “Good to Know”. Nestled between the larger articles about plants as medicine, these are short facts about various well-known herbs and plants, with information you may not know about their benefits. Check out page 36 to see why catnip isn’t just for the cats.
Look for our Natural Healing Directory issue in January. Our signature directory issue gets you well on your way to a new year of expansion, health and prosperity.
Peace and health to you and yours,
Holly
