Sunday Services at Unity in the Valley
Ann Marie Beale
Unity in the Valley, a joyous, open-minded congregation awakening hearts and minds, holds 10 a.m. Sunday services, as well as classes, book study, meditation and social events. Unity is lucky to have singer/songwriter Amber Norgaard as music director. Unity is best known for The Daily Word, a daily inspirational reading guide, and Silent Unity, the 24-hour prayer ministry. Anyone can call 1-800-669-0282 for 24-hour prayer support.
Unity began in the late 1800s, during the time of the Transcendentalists like Emerson, Whitman and Thoreau. Founders Charles and Myrtle Fillmore were seekers and explorers of truth in all philosophies, knowing that there is only one Divine Presence with Universal Truth for all people. The Fillmores also believed in the healing power of prayer and both experienced healing through prayer.
The Fillmores were Christian, so Unity has a Christian base, but they welcome friends from all spiritual philosophies. They are “Christian and more”, in that they honor all paths that lead to God. They freely seek and explore, finding the truth in all paths that lead to God.
