What a 2020 we’ve all had! Finally at the end of such a tumultuous year in our country and the world, let’s take a deep breath and focus on moving forward with renewed energy and positivity.

To start next year on a helpful and hopeful note, we will be releasing our annual Health and Wellness Guide in January. This edition will include close-ups on the best of Tucson’s wellness businesses and practitioners. It’s a source of inspiration about how to change things up in the New Year, and is kept by our readers to refer back to throughout the year. (See page 3 for more details.)

Speaking of inspiration, on page 14 we get to meet Tucsonan Nora Tyson, who retired from the U.S. Navy as a three-star Vice Admiral—a true trailblazer for women both in and out of the military. She shares her story of many “firsts”, her passion for her career in service to our country and more.

While we’ve all certainly had our share of disappointments and hardships this year, it is important to bring positivity into our lives—it multiplies! In “Laugh Locally”, on page 16, Katta Mapes introduces us to several types of comedy, as well as where to enjoy them both as a performer and as a spectator. There are plenty of options for laughter in Tucson, if one knows where to look!

Laughter is also good for keeping the “holiday blues” at bay. On page 26, we talk “Nine Tips to Beat the Holiday Blues”. It is certainly a challenging year for holiday traditions, as we all do our part to ensure our families and communities stay healthy and strong. Maybe we won’t see the whole family in person like usual, but we can choose to enjoy the new traditions that may come from a very different, distanced holiday season.

Wishing you all a relaxing holiday season and a rejuvenating New Year,
Holly
