Community has been the cornerstone of our survival as a species. Unfortunately, the way that our society has been trending has led to a loneliness epidemic. People are not connecting with others as frequently or as deeply as they once were, and it’s negatively impacting our health.
In “The Power of Community” on page 20, learn more about the problems we are facing, and get inspired to get out and “find your tribe” in Tucson and beyond.

Another article that touches on the importance of community connection for our health is “In Search of the Healthiest Diet” on page 26. Taking a look at Blue Zones, we can learn a lot about what foods and habits give us the best chance at a long, healthy life. One of the keys to overall well-being, aside from eating well, is promoting social interaction. Just one more reason to get to know your neighbors.

Fortunately, Tucson cultivates community in many creative ways, including fun events like Cyclovia. The event has been so popular and successful, Living Streets Alliance is now working on a smaller-scale event called Cyclovita, which will focus more on bringing smaller communities and neighborhoods outside to connect. Learn more on page 9.

In the spirit of connecting more in person, don’t forget to check out our Calendar section for some events nearby that will certainly help you on your way to meeting new people and communing with others in Tucson.

Have fun finding your tribe!
