Awakening to Spirit: December Publisher's Letter
Holly Baker
The holiday season is fully upon us, and too often, that means stress, exhaustion and not having enough time to stop and enjoy ourselves. Though Thanksgiving has come and gone, it is important to keep the spirit of gratitude and appreciation going into December—a time when so many are working hard to make others smile.
Our December theme is Prayer & Meditation, with focuses on the holidays and extra spotlights on meditation in Tucson. On page 29, we hear what spirituality means to several different spiritual centers in the Tucson area. What a great time to change up or add to the spiritual services you may attend, and maybe learn something new.
Artist Caroline Pyevich combines her meditation practice with her artistic talent, using the tranquility of meditation to inspire her artwork. See some of her moving artwork and learn more about her story on page 22.
While surrounded by friends and family this month, don’t forget to stop and appreciate the moment before it’s gone. If the stress of the holidays gets to you, try a meditation practice and breathe in the calming results.
Happy Holidays to you and yours this December, and we’ll see you fresh and bright in 2016!
