Cannabis and the Immune System
Science has shown that we have receptors in our body that bind to the cannabinoids, like THC and CBD, in cannabis. It is named the endocannabinoid system. This system has different receptors that act on other systems in our body, like the central nervous system and the immune system.
CB2 receptors, which act on our immune system, have been shown to lower inflammation, boost the immune system and assist in creating homeostasis in the body. This is very effective for patients living with chronic pain, autoimmune illnesses, cancer and other illnesses that are fueled by inflammation or lack of immunity. Cannabis also has the potential to be used for decreasing the progression of neurocognitive decline and other neurodegenerative diseases.
Many patients experience inflammation relief from using cannabis, along with relief for other ailments and imbalances. Cannabis is safe to use and can be titrated, or taken in micro-doses, to give relief throughout the day without the risk of having any undesired effects.
