Reflexology: A Moving Experience
Aging is often associated with declining mobility, which is discouraging to say the least. Reflexology addresses conditions that result in limited mobility, which often include pain, inflammation, trauma, postural disorders and injuries, among others. Wherever there is immobility, there is tension, and tension in the foot often points to tension elsewhere in the body.
Cheryl Foster, a Nationally Board Certified Reflexologist, has been in practice for 15 years. Her gentle practice, Barefoot Dreams Reflexology, is located at 2230 E. In reducing leg and foot tension and restoring mobility, we’re not just referring to bones, muscles, tendons and ligaments. Homeostasis (body balance) depends on the dynamic flow of fluids. Reflexology acts both gently and deeply to help restore cellular equilibrium by improving the quality of intracellular and extracellular fluids while regulating the circulation of the blood, lymph and cerebrospinal fluids.
Reflexology also stimulates (moves along) the process of elimination, which cleanses the body and thus improves its natural self-healing function. We even use the term “moving our bowels”. The healing of cells and tissues on all these levels leads to the restoration of physical, emotional and mental well-being.
For those of us who want to stay in the flow of life, it’s now possible to receive help through bodywork designed to reduce tension and stimulate movement while enjoying complete relaxation. Now, how moving is that?
